Missing You Foundation employs the use of Human Remains Detection Dogs (HRD Dogs) to search for and to locate missing persons who are deceased. These dogs are crucial to the success of Missing You Foundation's mission.
HRD Dogs are trained using human tissue samples. Their noses are able to detect the tiniest traces of human material as the body goes through the chemical changes that occur after death.
Since human cadaver material is so tough to obtain, the use of placenta tissue has become commonly utilized in the field of Human Remains Detection Training.
This is where you, the pregnant donor, comes in. By donating your placenta after birth, you supply one dog with approximately six months worth of training material.
To donate, you simply need to contact your obstetrician and your labor and delivery unit and let them know that you would like to donate your placenta to Missing You Foundation.

Tissue must be kept in a bio-hazard bag in a sealable cooler/container with ice to preserve the tissue. After your donation, if you would like to receive regular updates on the HRD Dog that you've helped to train, Missing You Foundation will send you quarterly updates via e-mail or snail mail, whichever you prefer.
Thank you in advance for helping keep our excellent resources trained and ready for the next case!
